Dr Purol’s Toys

A doctor’s visit is stressful for a parent, especially for a child! New surroundings, strange unknown devices. How can you not be afraid ?! What if we tame this medical environment a bit to help the Little Patient? I decided to present to you my medical tools as… funny animals. This is how we, me and my children, associate various medical devices. Maybe thanks to such comparisons, the next visit to the doctor’s office will be easier for your children, maybe even fun 😊 .

The doctor needs it to listen to your heart, lungs and abdomen. The doctor puts two olives into his ears, and on the other end there is a chestpiece that he puts against the patient’s body. That’s how the murmurs of your interior can be heard.

Scales is needed to accurately assess the weight of a newborn or infant – the doctor observes your growth.

Children who are walking independently should be weighed and measured on this scale. Height and weight are measured at each preventive visit to the pediatrician.

A soft, flexible measure is needed to check the head circumference, chest circumference or body length of an infant. It helps to make sure that you are growing properly.

We often have a thermometer at home. When we feel unwell, we have chills, fever, it is worth taking the body temperature even before taking medications.

This device measures blood pressure. The size of the cuff is selected according to the size of the child’s arm. Once worn, the doctor places the stethoscope on your elbow bend, then inflates the cuff witch gets puffed up (like jellyfish 😉). This allows you to hear tones that correspond to systolic and diastolic pressure.

This is a special flashlight with a magnifying glass. The doctor applies a disposable tip to be able to look into each patient’s ear.

This special instrument is used to measure the saturation. After inserting your finger inside, thanks to the special red light, the device checks if you are delivering enough oxygen with each breath. It also shows your pulse, which is how fast your heart beats.
